Nowruz – a celebration of new beginnings

Join us for a vibrant and family-friendly Nowruz celebration in Central London!

This will be a joyful evening of live music, dance, traditional sweets, and decorations as we come together for the New Year. Marking the first day of spring and the renewal of nature, Nowruz is a time for families and communities to unite, fostering friendship across generations while embracing new beginnings and hope for the future.

Who is this event for?

‍This event welcomes everyone—those who celebrate Nowruz every year and those discovering it for the first time. This is a mixed event for families with children, men, and women alike. The event will be hosted in English with Persian/Farsi (with translation).

‍All guests need to register. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment - simply scroll to the bottom of this page. Free tickets for refugees and asylum seekers. Doors open at 6pm.

Jo Winsloe Slater

Jo is Project Manager of People of the Earth at St Ethelburga’s, a strand of work that seeks to build relationships between refugees and asylum seekers, and local people, through events, workshops and humanising narratives.  She has a background in managing projects in the fields of interfaith, social justice and social care in the non-governmental sector.

Anahita Mahmoudi

‘Born and raised in Iran, Anahita now lives in the UK where she is an award-winning Managing Consultant focusing on innovation and digital strategy in the public and private sectors.Beyond her work Anahita has extensive experience in the humanitarian field,leading social change initiatives responding to the humanitarian crisis in Europe. Anahita was awarded a International Rotary Scholarship to study peace-building in 2023, and is an associate of St Ethelburga's Centre.’

همگی خوش آمدید کسانی که هر سال نوروز را جشن می‌گیرند و کسانی که برای اولین بار با آن آشنا شده‌اند. این یک رویداد مختلط برای خانواده‌های دارای فرزند، مردان و زنان است. این رویداد به زبان انگلیسی با فارسی (همراه با ترجمه) برگزار می‌شود.
