Restorer of Nature
Courageous Attributes

In moments of environmental degradation, the Rewilder works to restore ecosystems, embodying resilience, patience, and a deep connection to nature.

What's in the Shadow?

When the shadow is engaged, the Rewilder may become disconnected from human communities, focusing only on nature while neglecting other needs.

Example

Alemayehu Wassie Eshete is an Ethiopian ecologist known for his efforts in restoring degraded landscapes in Ethiopia. He has worked to protect sacred forests, helping to rewild areas that have been over-exploited, reconnecting people with nature.

Reflection

“The term degrowth, in a nutshell, is very scary, because when you see the Western world, you guys, you’ve had enough growth. You’ve had enough development. So it's good to stop and refine your morality. But when you come to developing countries like Ethiopia, we still need growth. We have so many people, food is insufficient. Still we have poor infrastructure. So from our perspective, growth may be necessary. But my understanding of the concept of degrowth is that we have a broken relationship with Earth. In my organisation, the motive we have is to fix this broken relationship.” – Alemayehu Wassie Eshete
