About the organisation:
MIDEFEHOPS (International Movement for the Social Promotion of Children, Women and the Elderly) is an NGO which provides care and support to some of the most vulnerable children in Goma, including children living in the streets, children separated from their families, and children orphaned by AIDS. Offering protection to 161children living in the streets between the ages of 5 and 15, MIDEFEHOPS provided residence, food and psychosocial support, and successfully reunified 98 of these children with their families. It also conducted outreach with young people to help prevent the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Funds are still needed to support the many thousands of children who remain extremely vulnerable in Goma….
About the artists:
After spending some time in parts of Africa (Liberia & Congo, DRC), Dave Noble (aka Natureboy) has pulled together a fine selection of top class artists to provide an evening of world/fusion music in support of raising funds for continuing the music project developed at Midefehops.
Sirishkumar- tabla Sirishkumar was a child prodigy taught by his father, and has developed into one of the most sought after tabla players. Working with a long list of greats including Ennio Morricone, Kiki Dee and Rolf Harris to name a few…plus numerous Indian classical musicians..
Jali Fily Cissokho - Kora - Virtuoso Kora Player and Praise Singer (a Griot), Jali Fily hails from Ziguinchor in Southern Senegal. Fily was born into the famous family of Griots - CISSOKHO - and was taught to play the KORA (a 21 string African Harp) at the age of 6 by his father Jali Kemo CISSOKHO and later by his older brother Solo CISSOKHO.
