St Ethelburga's

Centre for Reconciliation and Peace

faith is a source of conflict... and a resource for transforming conflict

world music & poetry

Music can speak powerfully about human experiences of conflict and can enable us to cross cultural and religious boundaries.

We invite world musicians and poets to perform in St Ethelburga's Centre, sharing their own culture and faith, often performing with musicians from other traditions. Our building provides an unusual and atmospheric venue which performers say is a special place to play. Now we show films as well.

You can join our Mailing List to receive more details of our cultural events.

WORLD MUJSIC

Above: a dervish whirls at St Ethelburga's.

Our Friday night (mostly) concerts bring people together across religious and cultural boundaries.

We invite professional musicians, poets and dancers from areas of conflict or religious significance to share their culture with a diverse audience.

The atmosphere and intimacy of the building make for a unique performance space, and artists say that its a place where they can create a strong rapport with the audience.

You can usually chat with the performers after the show over a plate of Della's delicious Kurdish food....
