Message of Support

Edgar Bronfman

I send my heartiest congratulations to those who came up with the concept of a Tent of Meeting where faiths, including the three Abrahamic faiths,  could interact and get to know each other. I should also like to congratulate those who made it happen.

Those three faiths have so much more in common than most people will acknowledge. We all believe in one God, in taking care of the widow and the orphan and in trying to make the planet a better place. This new Tent of Meeting will bring those three faiths into a harmonious exchange of practices, and as we discover how similar  re our religious goals of making this a better world, we will gain appreciation, each of the other. Over time this could lead to an end of mutual hatred and replace it with mutual respect.

We must all strive to achieve that goal of mutual respect rather than a clash of civilizations. That is terrible to contemplate, and totally avoidable. I wish all the participants well in their noble endeavour.

            Edgar M. Bronfman,
            President, the World Jewish Congress.
